A fine example of 1920s architecture from the front, the rear of this home in Moss vale was bald and bland. The owners did not want to affect the integrity of the design of the existing home, so a new modern contemporary addition was added to the back, replacing the bald two story rear façade with a lively, light-filled and interesting space. A new kitchen flows from the old to the new, opening into the dining/ living area. Modern materials were used to differentiate the new from the old, using Colorbond wall cladding and roofing, and a modern colour scheme of light earthy tones. The large bifold doors open generously onto the green of the backyard garden, engaging the property in a way the old brick façade never could. A deep blue feature wall with the fireplace at the end of the room completes the new space.
