Project Description

The owners of this property had an interesting brief; they wanted the house to have some references to the work of the famous 16th century Italian architect Andrea Palladio. Palladio’s work is strongly based on symmetry, perspective and values of the formal classical temple architecture of the Ancient Greeks and Romans. The central entry foyer extending up to the first floor, with doors opening equally on each side of the square is classic Palladio, with the stair tucked off of one corner. The heritage elements (dormer windows, high roof pitch, window glazing bars and highlights) all sit well with the Bowral vernacular. The formal garden approach and distinctive interior colour scheme complete the picture. The sunroom at the rear of the residence with columns, cornices, skirtings and architraves all contribute to the classical look of the house and make it a welcoming, cosy place to live.
